Panasonic says organic sensor development is complete…but there is yet no plan to use it in any camera

The 8K camera prototype wit organic sensor displayed by Panasonic a couple of years ago

PetaPixel had a chat with Tomoki Nakanishi, Supervisor at Panasonic’s Imaging Business Unit. About the organic sensor he said:

“If we [make a] new camera, we can choose that kind of sensor. But it’s kind of an R&D matter. So it is not [certain] that we will use that sensor in the next camera or not.”

PetaPixel put it this way: “You’ve made it, but you don’t know whether or not you’ll use it.” To which Nakanishi responded: “Yeah.”

HOT news: End of March Sigma will announce a super fast Full Frame prime lens for Sony E and Leica L cameras!

Sigma is finally going to announce that is super exciting! According to my very best source Sigma will announce a super fast prime lens by end of this Month! I can’t share the final specs yet but this is what you can expect for sure:

    • It’s faster than f/1.4
    • It’s Full Frame
    • It has autofocus
    • It’s coming for both Sony E and Leica L-mount
    • Announcement end of March

Hopefully soon I can fully share the lens specs…

Panasonic registered two new camera in China: One should be the S1RII, the other one a new FF compact and the GH7?

E8M on Weibo spotted two more new camera registrations from Panasonic (we now have a total of three registered cameras). Usually this means that Panasonic will announce those cameras within 2-3 months. All three cameras do support dual band Wifi (5.1 and 2.4 GHz). The dual band support usually is a sign for a mid to high end level camera.

Camera 1: Panasonic S1RII

I am certain one of the cameras is the new Full Frame S1R camera. I told you that my trusted source told me that Panasonic and Leica co-developed the just announced SL3. And the agreements says that Panasonic will announce their High res camera only a couple of months after this camera…with same sensor and similar specs. The S1RII will have better video tough.

Camera 2: new compact FF L-mount camera?

I am uncertain what we can expect from the second model. Panasonic openly confessed they are thinking about a more compact L-mount Full Frame camera. So this could be an option.

Camera 3: GH7 MFT camera?

It’s also clear that we are in dire need of a new GH7 MFT camera.

Hopefully my sources can soon tell me more about both cameras! If you know anything about those cameras drop me an anonymous message using this contact box (kindly use a nickname to recognize you in future). Or contact me at lrumorscameras@gmail.com.
