German Youtuber is testing a new L-mount cine camera….Panasonic, Blackmagic or DJI?

This German Youtuber claims he is testing a new Cine camera. And from the images it’s clear he is using a Viltrox PL-to-L mount adapter:

The camera has the compact footprint and familiar shape of Sony’s FX3. But the real mystery is: who built it? Yesterday I floated a wild rumor suggesting it could be DJI’s first step into this segment. Still, more realistic contenders might be Panasonic or Blackmagic.

What do you think about this?

A New Mirrorless Beast? DJI’s L-Mount Teaser Emerges

For the longest time, I thought the rumors about a DJI full-frame mirrorless camera were pure fiction. Just another internet myth. But now? Two new pieces of evidence have surfaced — and they’re making me rethink everything.

1. The Mysterious Teaser

A popular DJI influencer briefly posted a teaser video for a planned event on September 15. It was quickly taken down, but not before one of my readers grabbed a rough screenshot.

You don’t see much — just abstract visuals — but the overall aesthetic screams interchangeable lenses. Even more interesting? There’s a clear silhouette that looks a lot like a box-style cine camera à la Sony FX3.

2. A Blurred Camera, but a Revealing Adapter

Over on YouTube, a German creator is testing a new cine camera. He explicitly says it’s not Canon, and the camera body is fully blurred out throughout the video.

But here’s the kicker — he’s using a very visible Viltrox PL-to-L mount adapter. That one small detail suggests this is a compact, L-mount cine camera we haven’t seen before. Could it be a Panasonic prototype? Sure. But what if it’s DJI?

I’m still not fully convinced — but I’m definitely taking this more seriously now. And honestly, I’d welcome it. A serious mirrorless entry from DJI could bring the shake-up this industry needs. It would challenge the usual players — and force companies like Sony, Canon, and Panasonic to innovate harder and faster.

Here are the rumored DJI mirrorless camera specs:

  • Full Frame L-mount cine camera
  • Cine focused
  • Integrated viewfinder just like this Sony model (but less pronounced)
  • Hasselblad X2DII Color science and ICON menu
  • Announcement on September 15, 8am EST time

DJI to Shake Up L-Mount? Full Frame Camera Rumored for September 15

And here we go again — fresh DJI mirrorless camera rumors are making the rounds! While nothing is confirmed yet, here’s what’s currently being whispered…

  • DJI mirrorless camera will be announced on Sept 15
  • It is a Full Frame L-mount camera
  • Boxy shape like the Sony FX3
  • integrated electronic viewfinder in the corner of the camera
  • Hasselblad X2DII color science and menu interface

The spruce didn’t want to share specs yet but I guess it could use the 44MP sensor of the DJI Ronin or the partially stacked sensor of the Lumix S1II.

To be clear, this is still a wild rumor — and it’s been floating around since last year. So take it with a grain of salt.
But if it turns out to be true, it would be huge news for the entire L-Mount alliance — bringing a bold, innovative player like DJI into the mix.

What do you think? Could this actually happen?

It’s official: Viltrox joined the L-mount alliance!

Chinese lens manufacturer Viltrox has officially joined the L-Mount Alliance, becoming the 10th member of the group originally formed by Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic in 2018.

While no new L-mount lenses were announced today, it’s likely that Viltrox will soon adapt several of its popular E-mount lenses to native L-mount versions. Stay tuned!
