How2Fly reports that Panasonic will announce a new “all-in-one zoom” this week. The lens was already teased on the official roadmap from Panasonic Germany (“WW bis Tele”).

If you look at the extension of the blue line it looks like a 28-180mm lens or something like that. What do you think?

On top you can see the upcoming Sigma 500mm f/5.6 lens mounted on the Sony A1. It’s kind of an odd style…almost looks like it has some teleconverter built-in or not? Anyway, I got some additional specs:

Sigma 500mm f/5.6 specs:

• Lightweight lens…less than 1,5kg and so the lightest telephoto prime lens you can buy.
• Very fast AF on Sony A1 (lens has linear motor)
• The lens sharper than the Sony 200-600 G
• very low chromatic aberration
• Coming for Sony E and Leica L mount cameras
• Announcement on February 21.

My guess it’s that will cost $1,500-$2000 less than the current Sigma 500mm f/4.0 for Canon/Nikon.

The image on top show the new 500mm f/5.6 Full Frame E-mount lens that will be announced on February 21. But there will be obviously also an L-mount version!

The additional info I got says:

• lightweight lens
• very fast AF on Sony A1
• very low chromatic aberration

I am working to get info about the price…

One trusted source told me that Sigma will have a press event in very early February (likely in the days between Feb 4 and 8). He didn’t share yet what Sigma will announce and I am working to get some info in this.

But I hope that Mr Yamaki will hold on his promise made exactly one year ago that they are now going to focus on announcing more “unique” lenses. After all the past 12 months we had a bunch of exciting lens patents.

This is the rumored spec list of the new Leica SL3:

• The Leica SL3 will use the same 60MP sensor as the M11/Q3
• There will be a new body that is only a bit smaller than the current SL2
• 6.5 stops  image stabilization
• Phase detection AF
• 9fps continuous shooting
• Supports cropped 8K/30p and 4K/60p + full-frame & S35 C4K/30p
• The camera is already being tested in the field
• Official announcement on or around March 21-22, 2024

So my rumors about the 100mm macro have proven to be spot on! And this means also the other rumors I got from the same sources are right:

• Leica SL3 is coming very soon (likely at Cp+ in February)
• Panasonic High Resolution camera will be announced some months after the SL3
• Both cameras have been developed in partnership by Leica and Panasonic with the agreement that Leica can announce it first
• This means both cameras will have the same sensor
